Safe, effective laser hair removal for Brown, Asian, Black and mixed-heritage skin — on the hospital-grade Candela GentleMax Pro PLUS, whose 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength is built for deeper skin tones. Patch test every time. Free consultation.
If you have darker skin, you may have been told laser isn't suitable for your skin type — or been treated somewhere that left a burn, or dark marks that took months to fade. That was never your skin's fault. It was the wrong laser, or the wrong training behind it. Both matter, and both are explained below — plainly, and without exaggeration.
The science, plainly — because understanding it is how you choose the right clinic.
Peonella treats on the Candela GentleMax Pro PLUS — hospital-grade, FDA-cleared technology we chose deliberately: one system specified for every skin tone, so that no client has to be turned away.
It carries two lasers in one platform: the 755nm Alexandrite for lighter skin tones, and the 1064nm Nd:YAG — the wavelength clinicians worldwide trust for deeper skin, types IV to VI. The right wavelength for your skin is selected at your consultation and proven on your skin with a patch test before any treatment begins.
We treat deeper skin tones on deliberately conservative settings. Occasionally that means a session or two more across a course — we'd rather tell you that honestly than promise what faster settings risk.
The technology is half of it. Every Peonella laser practitioner is Candela-certified and trained in treating deeper skin tones, working to protocols designed by our senior practitioner.
Whoever you're considering — including us — ask what laser they'll use on your skin. For deeper skin tones the answer should be Nd:YAG 1064nm, delivered by someone trained on it. If a clinic can't answer, keep looking. We'll happily answer at your consultation, with the equipment in front of you.
Dark, coarse facial hair — upper lip, chin, sideburns, jawline — is one of the most common reasons clients come to us, and one of the things laser treats best. Because the hair is dark, it absorbs the laser's energy efficiently; treated correctly, results are visible from the first sessions.
Hormonal growth, including PCOS-related hair, responds well to laser too. It's a condition we understand and treat regularly — managed with realistic expectations, since hormonal growth can need occasional maintenance. Your consultation covers this honestly.
Preparing for a wedding or an occasion? Courses run over several months, so it's worth starting early — we'll plan your sessions around your date.
Curly and coiled hair often grows back into the skin after shaving, causing painful bumps, irritation and dark marks — the condition clinicians call pseudofolliculitis barbae. It affects the beard and neck in men and the bikini line and underarms in women, and it's especially common on darker skin.
Laser hair removal is one of the most effective treatments there is for ingrown hairs: fewer hairs means fewer hairs to grow back in. And because the dark dots of “strawberry skin” are often the hairs themselves sitting in the follicle, removing the hair can visibly improve that too. Men are very welcome at Peonella — beard-line and neck treatments are routine here, in private treatment rooms.
